The Adventures of a Local Scaredy Cat

Yesterday, I believe I had quite an adventure. You see, my mother had asked me to buy these tamarind candies. So she sent me to Cash and Carry supermarket, and to my surprise, I did not find them. Of course, right?? God was telling me, you’re not going to get them that easy. So, we went to Ong Pin, Aila, Kuya Alvin and me, which of course is pretty scary considering that all the people in that area are very sketchy and the odor is extremely disgusting. It’s like a mix of peepee and rotten garbage everywhere, and so of course I would make sure every step I took was a safe step on dry land. (Cause you know you stepping on a wet spot may mean an intolerable smell all the way home. )Well, I’ve only been in the area a couple of times with my mommy and of course, I had the great responsibility of remembering the way to the market where we bought the candy. Having the great sense of direction that I have, we almost got lost. Fail. I found myself saying, “ummm this is familiar go through here,” and “I’m pretty sure we turned through…

    Singapore/Hong Kong trip

All right, so I’m finally getting back to my blog after all of my trips and I have to say, the jetsetter thing is extremely tiring. We spent a week in Singapore where we enjoyed a lot of sightseeing, shopping and family bonding. It’s so clean in Singapore!! It’s ten times better than US, and no offense, the people seem to be a bit nicer there too. We went with my grandma’s, so the heavy touring was limited, but nonetheless, we had a very chill vacation with Tita and Tito, so it was still a very good experience. So all in all, the major places we saw were the Merlion, Singapore Zoo, and Ocean Park, which were all pretty cool. The whole time we commuted, so we took the LRT, which are those electric railed trains that travel above the city, and the MRT, which is like the subway. I seriously got those to mixed up for a while. Another thing that I enjoyed very much was the food. They had these Kopitiam thingies where you could order noodles, or get those point-point foods where you literally point at which foods you like, and a separate drinks place. I don’t…

    Smileyface

*sigh* It truely is a great feeling to be around family. Today, I went bowling, played basketball, ping pong and badminton with my cousins and I had so much fun. It’s different when you’re with your family and when you’re with your friends. When I’m with family, I feel so connected with them despite the fact that I only see them every other year. Even though we don’t speak to each other that often, I feel like I could totally spill my guts to them. And I guess I would if I really wanted to. The feeling I have when I’m with family is so unexplainable, but I can definitely say that it is a very good feeling. If only I could see them more often. This afternoon, I played with my little cousin Lei. We kicked a ball around and we attempted to play volleyball. Actually we attempted to play a lot of things, but failed. But, considering the fact that she’s only 3, I’d say we were doing a pretty good job. She is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She’s always following us, and she is so easy to talk to. I always have a good time…

    Philippines Trip Day 2

The atmosphere here in the Philippines is so different. The people are different the places are very unique and I can’t help but appreciate all of the “when I was a kid, I….” stories that my parents constantly tell me every time we pass by some place they remember. Today we went to visit my grandma in Paco. She still lives in the same house that my Dad grew up in, so coming back to the house is very special to me. There is a little piece of history in every piece of furniture, in every corner, and its just cool being there again. After waiting a while, my grandma finally came home and I was so happy.  I can still remember all the good times I had with her when I was younger, and because she raised me, its always such a great feeling to see her again after a long time. We went out to eat afterwards at Max’s and we had a traditional filipino meal of Kare-Kare, Pinakbit, and Krispy Pata, with Sagot Gulaman. Kare-Kare is like stewed vegetables and beef with a special peanut sauce, Pinakbit is more or less, a combo of  slow cooked string beans,…

    Firebirds Sleepover

So, last night was our Firebird’s sleepover at Ashley’s house. Oh my freakin’ goodness, their house was amazingly nice. Walking up to their steps I honestly felt underdressed and I totally was considering bailing out on the whole thing, but good thing I didn’t. When I get a steady job and I can afford to buy my own house, I want to get a house like theirs. Anyway, it was only Ashley and me for a while, before we were reunited with Priscilla, Kim and Lindsey a bit later, and Jen, right before we were heading in to sleep. We played Super Smash Brothers Brawl for a while, and I totally sucked at it, but it was pretty fun. I can definitely say that I improved by the end of the night. After dinner, we headed upstairs for more bonding. haha.. bonding. We talked about a lot of things, school, the team, our boring practices and all before we finally found… dun dun dunnnnn… the nerf guns. I can’t remember the last time I played with nerf guns, with that many people before, so I did not hesistate to fire the first shot at Kim. That was the beginning of…
